EPISODE 9: JOHNNY GOT HIS GUN

WWI soldier suffering shell shock. Subject, place and photographer unknown.

We proudly present an adaptation of the classic 1939 novel, JOHNNY GOT HIS GUN by Dalton Trumbo, as originally presented on the March 9, 1940 episode of Arch Oboler's Plays.

Young Joe Bonham, grievously wounded in the trenches of World War I, wakes up to find himself with no arms, no legs, no eyes to see, no mouth to speak, and no ears to hear. We drift with Joe between memory and fantasy, know his struggles to escape the prison that is his body and hear the thoughts of a boy, sent off to war.

Today's show features Stephen Hensel as Joe Bonham, Bryden Farrell McCurdy as Kareen and Mother, with Ben Beck and Keith E. Bowerman as assorted voices. This show is produced and directed by Keith E. Bowerman, with Audio Engineering by Lindy Mack.

Please note that this show contains discussion of war, body mutilation, and features intense sound effects. Please exercise discretion.
